Beautyblender VS. Real Techniques

It's time for a beauty sponge beat down! Is the original beautyblender worth the steep $19.95 price tag? Is the $5.99 Real Techniques "dupe" better? Let's find out!!!

The objective of a makeup sponge is to create flawless foundation or concealer coverage, in a fast, foolproof manner. They are flexible and soft to the touch, allowing for the natural contours of your face to be blended with ease. For best use, drench sponge in water, using a squeezing motion, then squeeze any excess out. Pat dry on a towel, and you're ready to use. Apply your favorite foundation either dotting on your face or directly to sponge, and bounce effortlessly all over until blended. {To clean, use baby shampoo with olive oil and it makes it sparkly clean, and fresh again.}

Personally, to choose between the two is very difficult. They are so very similar, it's almost not fair! They are both incredibly soft and bouncy. The only real difference I can feel between the two is the beautyblender feels a tad dryer when using damp, whereas the Real Techniques when damp, feels slightly more wet, not in a bad way. I actually prefer the RT in this regard because for me, it seems to blend out better. I like to dot my foundation on my face first, then use my damp sponge to "pounce" or "bounce" all over my face and blend. I first purchased the beautyblender, as the dupe had not come out yet. I completely fell in love, and raved about it to anyone who had interest. I used the heck out of it, hence the very faded pink look to it, as you'll see in next photos. Then, the dupe - Real Techniques - came out and was a fraction of the price of the original, so I had to try it. I must say, I was extremely pleased! To me, it felt just as silky and soft, and made the application just as effortless and flawless. Also, a plus on the Real Techniques sponge that the original does not, is it has the flat side which I use mostly and is so easy!

Like I stated earlier, these sponges are meant to be used dry or damp. But I can't even fathom using one dry, as it changes the whole concept to me, and feels COMPLETELY different. See the different between the dry and damp sponges. The product when wet, expands almost twice the size.

What a difference, huh?! If you haven't yet tried these, I highly suggest you do, either one. I can guarantee they will change the way you do makeup! I can't really say I favor one over the other. They're both amazing. These are perfect for traveling, too. I've brought these many places with me! They're small enough to not be too intrusive.

Thanks so much for reading, feel free to comment, and have a wonderful Sunday!!! <3
